		</p><p>OKOLONA – Cherry Ann Wilkinson Word, 86, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Memphis to Joseph C. Wilkinson and Mary Halliburton Wilkinson.</p>
<p>After graduating high school she continued her education at Mississippi State College for Women (MSCW) in Columbus. She married Thomas Lawler Word Jr. on April 12, 1947, and worked for many years as a teller for BancorpSouth in Tupelo as well as Okolona before retiring. She was a gracious lady who enjoyed her Bridge Club, cooking, crossword puzzles, reading, watching the cooking channel, and spending time at the beach. She was the last surviving member of her generation of a very large and loving family, known as the “Queen,” and being fun-loving and witty. She was of the Presbyterian faith, attended First Presbyterian Church in Okolona and was a former member of Wren Presbyterian Church.</p>
<p>A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Okolona with the Rev. Sandra Sisson and the Rev. Tom Cheatham officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors and from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at First Presbyterian Church.</p>
<p>Survivors include her son, William Word (Pat) of Houston; daughter, Janice Word Cain of Okolona; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Word of West Point; 12 grandchildren, Thomas Word (Natalie), Amy Bryan (Wilkes), Matt Word (Dayna), Jenny Stubblefield (Earl), Lonny Cain (Kimberlie), Patrick Cain (Amanda), Clay Cain (Jennifer), Beth McArthur (Johnathan), Chad Galloway, Katie Mitchell (Sam), Emily Word and Tara Criddle; 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Lawler Word Jr., who died June 10, 1976; her son, Tommy Word; two brothers and one sister; and her companion, Louie Demoville.</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be Herbert Word, Rodney Hollingsworth, Tom Hollingsworth and David Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.</p>
<p>Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 326 W. Main Street, Okolona, MS 38860, First Presbyterian Church, 209 Fourth Street, South, Amory, MS 38821, or LIFE of MS, 1051 Cliff Gookin Blvd., Tupelo, MS 38801.</p>

		</p><p>MEMPHIS – Hillary A. “Bill” McQuary, 87,  died Tuesday, May 21, 2013. He was born March 3, 1926, in Chickasaw County to Marion Monroe McQuary and Rosa Lee Jennings McQuary. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He attended Mississippi State University and retired from Kimberly Clark Corporation after 35 years of service. He loved to hunt, fish, and grow both flowers and vegetables. His favorite things in the world were kids, horses, dogs and Louis L’Amour western books.</p>
<p>Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home in Houston. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife, Jacque Womack McQuary; two daughters, Linda McQuary Schmidt and Alma McQuary Spagnola (Timothy), both of Memphis; three grandchildren, Amy Burkett White (Joel), Thomas E. “Trey” Minga III and Dominic Christopher Spagnola; five great-grandchildren, Laura M. Bryant, Brandon D. White, Jennifer R. White, Clinton S. White and Hayden White; two sisters, Christine Harmon of Houston and Romalette Thatcher of Starkville; in-laws, Dan S. and Sylvia Womack of Mantee, Thomas Verell of Rockwall, Texas, and Betty Weeks; and a host of nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Rosa McQuary; one son, Michael Paul McQuary; and one grandson, Leon Daniel Schmidt.</p>
<p>Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home.</p>

		</p><p>TUPELO – Edith Christine Stevens Clement, 88, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at The Meadows in Fulton after an extended illness. She was born in Alcorn County on April 4, 1925, to George Stevens and Earnestine Haney Stevens.</p>
<p>She grew up there and married the Rev. Dr. Richard Clement on Aug. 31, 1946. The made their home in the Tupelo area for more than 60 years where they pastored Baptist Churches with much of their time spent at West Jackson Street Baptist Church, where they were the original mission minister. She was employed at Blue Bell Manufacturing during her working life but her great contribution was that of a pastor’s wife and a master homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, working in flowers and reading. She was a member of the West Jackson Street Baptist Church, attending until her health failed.</p>
<p>A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with  Bro. Matt Scopel and Bro. John Mark Jarrett officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Thursday only at the Tupelo Chapel.</p>
<p>Survivors include her three sons, Butch Clement (Ann) of Tupelo, David Clement (Monica) of Plant City, Fla., and Bill Clement (Renee’) of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren, Brad Clement (Carrie) of Olive Branch, Dana Daniel (Carl) of Houlka, Sarah Beth Clement of Birmingham, Ala.,  and Celeste Clement Jensen (Sean) of Aravada, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Luke Clement, Carly Clement, Will Daniel, Emma Claire Daniel and Mack Daniel; a sister, Jewel Churchill of Corinth; and nieces, nephews and cousins.</p>

		</p><p>REGAN, Tenn. – Willie Lee Owens, 73, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 21, 1939, in Calhoun County to Lee Ander and Rosa Talent Owens. He was a retired businessman, truck driver and cattle dealer. He also enjoyed training, riding and showing walking horses. He was a member of Scotts Hill Baptist Church.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife, Madia Newman Owens of Ragan, Tenn.; two sons, Tony Owens of Regan, Tenn., and Mike (Nancy) Caruso of Chicago; two daughters, Ramona Owens of Jacksonville, Fla., and Becky (Bob) Cobb of Dyersburg, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Weslee Partington of Jacksonville, Fla., Ashley Cobb (Josh) Hyatt of Knoxville, Tenn., Caleb Cobb of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Michael, Matthew and Marissa Caruso of Chicago; great-grandson, Evean Partington of Jackson, Fla.; and three sisters, Vannie Ree Parker and Erma Shankle of Calhoun City, and Betty (Jerry) Haimes of Houston.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; G.W., James Owens and an infant brother Sherman.</p>
<p>Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman with Bro. John Haimes and Bro. Robert Alexander officiating. Burial will be at New Liberty Cemetery in Calhoun County</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be Dave Shankle, Barry Shankle, Stacey Shankle, Scott Shankle, Tim Parker, Marvin Morris, Kenny Adams and Landon Adams.</p>
<p>Visitation will be from noon to service time today.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a cancer fund of your choice.</p>

		</p><p>WATER VALLEY – Emmie Faye Howell Jenkins, 83, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. She was born April 13, 1930, in Calhoun County to Jesse Ellis and Ethel Shephard Howell.</p>
<p>She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun County; a past Matron of the Eastern Star Water Valley No. 5; and a former member of the Water Valley/Oxford Shrinettes. She owned and operated Faye’s Beauty Shop in Water Valley until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, tending her flowers, gardening and sewing. She loved being around people, always doing things to help others. She was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.</p>
<p>Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley with Bro. Ronald “Bubba” Jenkins and Bro. Raymond Aven officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.</p>
<p>She is survived by two sons, James “Mickey” Jenkins (Linda) of Tupelo and Richard “Ricky” Jenkins (Deana) of Hernando; one sister, Alma Lovelady of Water Valley; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Uree Adams, Ludie C. Dunn, Lennie May Dickey and Opal Howell; three brothers, James David Howell, Jesse Willie Howell and Jesse Ellis Howell Jr.</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be Adam Jenkins, Jason Rushing, Cameron Halbert, Randy Taylor, Cary Busby and Matt Lucas.</p>
<p>Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.</p>

AMORY – Justin Andrew Shields, 20, died Friday, May 17, 1913, in Amory. Born June 22, 1992, he was the son of Christie Roberson Shields and Columbus Woods Shields. He attended Amory schools and he was Baptist. He enjoyed reading, watching television, being outdoors, gardening and spending time with his friends and family.</p>
<p>A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory, with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt and Bro. Danny Carl Burks officiating. Burial will be in the Greenbrier Cemetery.</p>
<p>Survivors include his mother, Christie Roberson Shields of Amory; his father, Columbus Woods Shields of Amory; brother, Jonathan Tyler Shields of Amory; sister, Kimberly Mooneyham of Endville; nephew, Eli Mooneyham; grandparents, Clyde Azlin and Peggy Azlin, both of Amory; great-grandmother, Ona Mae Azlin; uncles, Guy Shields, Larry Shields, Frank Hall and Jesse Azlin all of Amory; aunts, Erma Cockrell, Alice Markham and Laura Wallace, all of Amory; great-aunts, Sally Bedard of Union Grove, Wis., and Wanda Connely of Columbus; great-uncles, Jack Roberson (Christine) of Tuscon, Ariz., Johnny Heathcoat of Memphis, Tenn., and Jim Azlin of Okolona; special friend, Chad Seinkowski of Chicago; and a host of cousins.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his great-great-grandfather, Wesley Blane Roberson; great-grandmother, Cora Roberson; great-great-grandmother, Gurtie Matthews; great-grandmother, Lula Shields; and great-grandfather, Floyd Shields.</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be Cody Jordan, Bobby Donaldson, Adam Clogsdale, Johnny Reich, Donnie Butler and Dave Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Dody, Lester Freeman, and Terry Hall.</p>

		</p><p>CALHOUN CITY – Anna Faye Mitchell Spratlin, 65, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Calhoun Co., to John Mitchell and Lyla Fugett Mitchell. She was the City Clerk of Calhoun City and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.</p>
<p>She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Danny Spratlin of Calhoun City; mother, Lyla Mitchell of Bruce; one sister, Linda Gail Tutor of Bruce; two nieces, Dana Bryant and Tammy Tallent, both of Bruce; and one nephew, Sam Tutor Sr. of Bruce.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her father, John E. Mitchell.</p>
<p>Services are at 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Calhoun City with the Rev. Wayne Gullett and the Rev. Curtis Ferrell officiating. Burial is at Pinecrest Cemetery in Calhoun City. Pryor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.</p>
<p>Pallbearers are deacons of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, David Keeton, David Clark, Doug Denton, Jimmy Clemons, Robert Brand and Mike Hitt.</p>
<p>Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City.</p>

</b>PRAIRIE – Wilson Craig, 95, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at the Darlington Oaks Hospice in Verona. He was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Prairie, to Henry Andrew Craig and Josephine Alice Bourland Craig. He lived his last years in the house where he was born on Old Magnolia Highway. He began his education at Prairie, graduated from Aberdeen High School and received an Agricultural Engineering Degree from Mississippi A and M, now Mississippi State University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Before serving his country in the United States Army, he worked as a shell inspector in Toccoa, Ga. After completing his service in the army, he returned home to Prairie where he taught farm machinery mechanics at Trades Training Institute and then farmed for more than 60 years. He served as president of the Aberdeen School Board and was representative on various U.S.D.A. boards. He was president of the Monroe County Cattleman’s Association, received their Lifetime Achievement Award, and was recognized by the American Quarter Horse Association for over 25 years of producing registered American Quarter Horses. He was a lifetime member of the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a trustee. He also wrote a book, “The Way It Used To Be”.</p>
<p>Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Prairie Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Lampkin, the Rev. Ken Corley and the Rev. Sue McGrew officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Haggart Craig of Prairie; two daughters, Bonnie Beth Craig Strohm (Sonny) of Fayetteville, Ga., and Ann Craig Staten (Tommy) of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Craig Craft (Leslie) of Hertford, N.C., and Kim Williams (Chuck) of Orlando, Fla.; step-grandsons, Shelby Staten (Kerrie) of Coffeeville, Jeromiah Staten (Carla) of West Point and Mark Staten (Tammy) of Hertford, N.C.; great grandchildren, Tarlie, Arden and Sidney Craft, Davis Williams and Collin, Kaylee, Abby, Cody, Dylan and Samuel Staten; special nieces, Faith Craig West and Barbara Ellard White; and special nephew, Buddy Craig.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Jean Bounds Craig; siblings, Jim Craig, Hansel Craig, Nora Craig and Elizabeth Craig Ellard; and nephew, Craig Ellard.</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be David Haggart, Duncan Haggart, John Young, Wes Holdeman, Devin Holdeman and Alex Holdeman. Honorary pallbearers are Robert White, Willie Pierce, Roy Doss, Dr. Alan Flowers and Jesse Ballard.</p>
<p>Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.</p>

</b>WEST POINT – Charles E. Bennett, 70, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Medical Center-GT, in Columbus. He was born July 31, 1942, in Chickasaw County to Willie Frances Nichols and Melvin Floyd Bennett Sr. He was a fitter welder for Ellis Steel for 18 years. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Aberdeen and a Veteran of Mississippi National Guard, retiring in June 1991. He served in the 223 Battlion at Houston. He married Robbie Sutherland Bennett on Nov. 29, 1985, in Chickasaw County in Houston.</p>
<p>Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Washington officiating, assisted by Bro. John Ray Hamilton. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery West Point.</p>
<p>Survivors include wife, Robbie Bennett of West Point; four daughters, Robbie Lynn Tutor (Stanley) of Houlka, Angela Hester (Danny) of Pontotoc, Stacey Armstrong (Ray) and Pamela Briscoe (Jeff) all of Grenada; two sons, Matthew Bennett (Janice) of Pontotoc and Jason Brown (Stephanie) of Saltillo; 23 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Bennett Reedy of Grenada.</p>
<p>Preceding him in death were his grandson, Timothy Coats; his parents; and brother, Melvin Floyd Bennett Jr.</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be James Reedy, Barry Reedy, Eric Fretwell, Joey Fretwell, Kenneth Fretwell, and William Hamilton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Fretwell, Tommy Williams, Earl Gilreath, Kenneth Mobley, Ralph Coggins and Alvin Griffin.</p>
<p>Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.</p>
