Can’t fault the board for its concerns, nor the Journal’s comment, but . . . (There’s always a “but,” isn’t it?) . . . the town needs to remove the beam from its own eye.
For example: How long has that hole in the sidewalk surrounded by orange netting on North Jackson been there? Two years? Three? How many months has one of the traffic lights at malfunction junction been out? Three? Four?
I know the town has a lot of needs, and must set priorities. Nevertheless, a certain moral authority is forfeited when the town fails to practice “broken window policing” on its own property.
