Houston duo named Showcase MVPs

PX 7 Baseballs cover GENERICHOUSTON – Two Houston athletes have been named to the top of their class by the Mississippi Elite Underclassmen Showcase by BSN Sports.

The 2014 Most Valuable Players selected by coaches and scouts are:

• Luke Hancock, Houston, Class of 2018.

• Tanner Smith, Houston, Class of 2017.

• Jacob Wilcher, Kossuth, Class of 2016.

• Chance Whitt, Pontotoc, Class of 2015.

The First Annual Invitational State-Wide Baseball Showcase took place July 23-23 under the direction of President Will Lowery, head coach of Tupelo Christian Prepatory School.

The event saw 130 of the best high school athletes in Tupelo to show their skills to college and pro scouts from across the South. The showcase was held at TCPS.

Houston was represented by Reid Carter, an upcoming senior, Smith an upcoming Sophomore and Handcock and Colton Peel as upcoming Freshmen.

The showcase saw athletes participate in a regulation high school game, run a 60-yard dash and conduct velocity readings, shuttle runs and pop-time for catchers.
