HOUSTON – In keeping with the Fourth of July holiday, members of the Houston Business Group (HBG) were treated to hot dogs, chips and drinks in a festive red, white and blue sidewalk setting at State Farm Insurance July 2.
The Business Group held an informal discussion about what resources are available to merchants and what options they need.
Joyce East of Chickasaw Development Foundation facilitated the discussion, telling those in attendance about the availability of a weekly newsletter from CDF as well as linking capabilities on the CDF webpage and Facebook page.
Jordan Byrne of Byrne CPA said digital information is valuable to her when she is looking for merchandise.
The Houston Business Group was formed in April as part of the Chickasaw Development Foundations’ effort to help existing businesses grow and attract new businesses to the community.
The HBG has talked about developing signage that will point shoppers to the various commercial areas in Houston. They have also talked about linking with CDF’s effort to bring a event downtown each month of the year.
HBG has hosted Art in the Park each week this summer. This event brings a new musical group or artist to the Master Gardener Mini Park in Downtown Houston each Thursday. The goal is to get people downtown to enjoy an afternoon and shop in local stores.
Local businesses have been asked to say open a little later on Thursday.
