Area teams prepping for playoffs, World Series

HOUSTON – The Houston Angels All-Star team hosted a warm up tournament for teams getting set to head to State playoffs and hopefully earn a berth in the World Series.

The Angels hosted the June 21 event as a fund raiser to assist them in their own quest for more Dizzy Dean action and they ended up taking keeping the first-place trophy.
They also participated in the a warm up tourney in Pontotoc where they placed third after playing six game in one day.
The Angels were scheduled to spend the Fourth of July on the ball fields at State tournament.
In addition to the Angels, 10 other local and area teams took advantage of the warm up tourney in Houston. Seven girls teams including Houston, Hamilton, Pontotoc, Cal-Chick, Mathston, Vardaman and Caledonia, along with four boys teams from Houston, Bruce, Saltillo and Pontotoc all used the opportunity to get set for more upcoming tournament action. The Houston Braves took top honors in the boy’s division.
