All Star on the court

Ezra Blissard of Houston capped a successful 2014 season on the tennis court, finishing up as the runner-up at State in 4A boy’s singles.
Going into the summer, he is still collecting awards, having been named to the All State tennis team.
The 16-year-old rising junior at Houston High School finished up the season at 13-3, falling to only two competitors, Mark Robins of New Albany and Ryan Henry of Pontotoc. Robins went on to win boy’s singles at State while Henry was part of the State Championship boy’s doubles team.
Ezra has been coached since his childhood by his father, Mike Blissard, who also assisted with the HHS team and has coached summer tennis.
“I am very proud of his work ethic and accomplishments,” Mike said of Ezra’s dedication to the game. “He pushes me to be a better coach instead of me pushing him to be a better player.”
Ezra is spending this summer on the court at Tupelo Tennis Academy and practices at least three hours a day.web tennis
