ECRU – Jimmy Weatherly Sr., 72, died Friday, June 20, 2014, at his home in Ecru. He was born Aug. 26, 1941, in Pontotoc County to Zebedee and Rena Weatherly. He retired from Lane Furniture after 26 years. He loved spending time with his family and gardening. He collected knives and caps. He loved showing his hunting Walker dogs. He was a member of Cherry Creek Baptist Church.
Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Cherry Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Herndon, the Rev. Mike Powell and the Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Burial will be in Cherry Creek Cemetery. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Dyer Weatherly of Ecru; three sons, Jimmy Glenn Weatherly Jr. (Marilyn), Scotty Weatherly and Kevin Weatherly, all of Ecru; two sisters, Linda Weatherly Clayton (Ronnie) of Tupelo and Betty Weatherly Tucker of Jackson; six grandchildren, Kayla Snider (Will), Jon Weatherly (Bridget), Shane Weatherly, Kaleb Weatherly, Kami Weatherly and Kayce’ Weatherly; and seven great-grandchildren, Peighton, Baylee and Kylee Snider, Jon Owen and Jake Weatherly and Kaylee and Kyle Shaffer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Weatherly Powell; and a brother, Billy “Bo” Weatherly.
Pallbearers will be Brian Weatherly, Randy Tucker, Will Snider, Jess Clayton, Merle Powell and Bubba Dyer.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the church.
