MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – A Mississippi sheriff’s deputy has been indicted on charges in an April shooting on Beale Street in Memphis.

WMC-TV in Memphis reports Pontotoc County Deputy John Logan was indicted by a Shelby County grand jury earlier this month.

Logan is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of employing a firearm to commit a felony.

Logan, who was off duty at the time, is accused of shooting Mark Martinez on Beale Street after the two got into a fight. Logan has said he was attacked by three men.

Logan was arrested Friday and released on $5,000 bond.

Logan was also placed on unpaid administrative leave following the indictment.
