Houston White splits with Aggies

Houston White was back on the diamond June 2 facing Kossuth and earned a split in the double-header. Coach Scott Gann said he was pleased with their overall performance and is looking for the team to work out their kinks.
“Game One we played extremely well,” Gann said. “We hit the ball with authority and didn’t miss good pitches.”
Luke Hancock contributed two home runs in Game One and Anekein Rish got the win from the hill.
“(Rish) filled up the strike zone and really was a pitcher for us,” Gann said.
Houston White didn’t fare as well in the nightcap game.
“We kind of let our guard down,” Gann said. “Didn’t play as crisp as we had in Game One.”
Tanner Smith was the pithcer of record and Gann had positive words for his efforts.
“Tanner threw really well for us and gave us a chence to win,” Gann said. “We just didn’t make enough playes behind him. Nor did we score enough to make up for the mistakes.”
After coming off a 26-9-1 season and trip to North Half, it could be expected for the team to have a lull in the off-season, but that’s what summer ball is for – to prepare for next spring.
“We are getting back into the grind of things and trying to clean up our play a bit,” Gann said. web white
