The Memorial Day ceremony held on Monday, May 26, was a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to those who sacrificed so much for all of us. It was good to see so many people take the time to attend this year. Thanks to everyone who was there.
Memorial Day is accompanied by the appearance of American flags flying throughout our communities as grave decorations, in parades, at public buildings, at Memorial Day programs and on many homes and businesses. Any worn flags that have been replaced can be retired with honor at the annual Flag Retirement ceremony. This is a joint project of the Pilot Club of Houston, American Legion Post 95 and VFW Post 7149.
Boxes are being placed in several locations to collect flags. You may bring flags to any of the local banks, the Carnegie Library, Griffin Motors, the Houston Civic Center, Pearson’s Discount Drugs, Rex Sanderson’s Law Office and the Chickasaw Journal.
Many thanks for your continued support of our community flag retirement efforts.
Please plan to bring the family and join us for the Flag Retirement at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 12. You will be glad you did.
