James Crowson

JACKSON – James Garland Crowson, 76, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, in Jackson. He was born May 2, 1938, in Woodland to Vester Garland Crowson and Ruby L. Ray Crowson.

He was a public school teacher for many years in Jackson. He also worked in the transportation industry for many years, working his way up through several different companies in and around the Jackson area, and finally serving as National Transportation Manager for W.E. Walker Stores (“Bill’s Dollar Stores”). He was also an ordained Baptist Minister and preached at several different churches during the course of his life.

Graveside services are Friday, May 30, at 2 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Woodland with Rev. John Dendy officiating. Houston Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Kay D. Crowson of Jackson; his son, Paul Ray Crowson and wife, Jennifer Russell Crowson of Jackson; and his grandson, Alexander James Crowson of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dale Garland Crowson; his brothers, Sammye Crowson and Navarro “Bo” Crowson.
