ABERDEEN – Johnnie M. Shaw, 90, of Aberdeen, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Feb. 3, 1924, in the Egypt Community to Elbert Ray Davis and Mattie Sue Davis.
She was a member of New Hebron M.B. Church. She loved cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. She was formerly employed as a dietitian at Aberdeen Hospital. She continued to share her love for cooking after retirement and worked as a cook at the Best Western Hotel for many years.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at New Hebron M.B. Church with the Rev. Sam Crawford and Pastor the Rev. Gordon Sturdivant officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Williams Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Vennetta Dearing, Veronica (George) Merriweather, both of Okolona, and Gwendolyn (Terry) Porter of Killeen, Texas; one son, the Rev. Gordon (Tracy) Sturdivant of Atlanta, Ga.; siblings, Foster (Bonnie) Fields of Aberdeen and Marion Fields of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. with the wake from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
