HOUSTON – The Houston Fire Department and county units were dispatched to a fire on the east side of the Natchez Trace exit on Highway 8 and found a double-wide trailer fully engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene.

The fire was reported by a passing motorist and fire crews were dispatched at 5:57 a.m. Sunday to 1525 Highway 8 East. The trailer was next to a home that burned last year and almost hurt two people.

Firefighters found the yard around the trailer mowed and a car burning in the carport, prompting them to fear someone might be inside. Firefighters were on the scene until 7:30 wetting down hotspots and conducting a full search of the property.

No one was found at the scene and the department has not determined the cause of the fire.
