MANTEE – A small church in a small community is sharing love in a big way.
Members of the Missionary Society and children of New Covenant M.B. Church have created 53 Easter baskets for the elderly in the community and surrounding areas.
“Last year was the first year we did it,” said Courtney Ivy. “We made 30 baskets. This year we’ve made close to double that.”
Actually the gifts have more than doubled as some baskets are designed for couples and will reach over 60 people.
A list was posted at the church and congregation members made recommendations of people who might need a basket of cheer for the upcoming holidays. Baskets include small toiletry items like lotions and tissues, crackers and fruit cup snacks, a candy-filled egg, spiritual information and a craft made by the children of the church.
The baskets were completed Palm Sunday and will be distributed this week to people around the Mantee area and surrounding areas including Houston and West Point.
