Herron powers toward State

HerronOkolona’s Robert Herron punched his ticket to State in powerlifting, placing first in the Super Heavyweight division at North Half competition in Calhoun City March 8.
Herron lifted a total of 1,205-pounds split into three categories.
He squatted 405-pounds, benched 275-pounds and deadlifted 525-pounds to take top honors in his division.
Herron is a junior at Okolona High School where he also participates in football and track. Coach Jack Clark said Herron is an exemplary student athlete.
“Robert has had a great athletic year,” Clark said. “He was All-State in football and now won the North Half in powerlifting. He is also an honor student and a leader on and off the field.”
Herron is also a 2014 inductee into the National Honor Society.
He will compete at the State meet May 4-5 in Jackson.
