Doug Eaton

TUPELO – William Douglas “”Doug”” Eaton, 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Okolona on May 13, 1943, to Cleo and Christine Brent Eaton.

American_OBIT_flag_2a_310ZA U.S. Marine Corp veteran of Vietnam, he served for 20 years, retiring in 1981. He achieved the rank of master sergeant. After his military service, he worked as a foreman for Cooper Tire, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed working on old cars and visiting with his VFW buddies on Friday nights. He was a member of VFW Post 5395 in Pontotoc.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Satsuko Nago Eaton; two sons, Gary Eaton and Dan Nago (Trish), all of St. Louis; close family friend, Daniel Wells of Pontotoc; his mother, Christine Eaton of Houston; and two brothers, Pete Eaton (Donna) of Pontotoc and Charles Eaton (Kathy) of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a sister, Betty.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Wells, Austin Wells, Lucas Wells, Chris Eaton, Billy Langford and Dan Nago.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to service time Saturday.
