American_OBIT_flag_2a_310ZHOUSTON, Texas – Raymond Newman, 64, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Park Manor Nursing Home in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born April 6, 1949, in Houston, Miss.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a retired IRS agent. After retiring, he worked as a substitute school teacher.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. John Newman officiating. Burial will be in Turkey Creek Cemetery in Water Valley. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Turner Newman of Houston, Texas; one son, Michael Vernon Newman (Lainie Ann) of Zion, Ill.; three stepchildren, Deborah Cole (Jason), Catherine Spearman (Scott) and Rick Bell (Stephanie), all of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Turner of Plaquemine, La.; and two brothers, Davis Newman of Frankfurt, Ill., and John Newman (Sherry) of Shreveport, La.
He was was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Roane Newman and Thelma Davis Newman
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
