HHS cheer places fifth at State

The Houston High School varsity cheer squad gave themselves an early Christmas gifts as they took fifth place at MHSAA State competition Dec. 14.
The squad, under the direction of Lakin Hillhouse and Trey Davis, were not satisfied with their performance at an earlier competition so they went back to the gym to make adjustments.
“We tweaked our routines,” Hillhouse said.
The work paid off with a fifth place showing at State competition.
The Houston squad competed in cheer, dance and stunt in the varsity small non-tumbling division and Hillhouse said the event was full of competiton.
“There were so many teams they had to split us up into 1-3A and 4-6A,” Hillhouse said. “They did really good and I’m proud of them.”web hhs cheer
