VARDAMAN – Eli John Myrick Jr., 83, formerly of Grenada, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was born July 15, 1930, in Petal. He was a retired insurance agent for Nationwide Mutual of Omaha and a realtor.
He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Gulfport. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Gulfport and the Chamber of Commerce.
Services will be at noon Friday, Dec. 13, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vardaman. Bro. Joey Hamilton will officiate, and Bro. Archie Goodwin will assist. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at Vardaman.
Survivors include his wife, Veneal Spratlin Myrick of Vardaman; two daughters, Terri Lynn Tubbs (Mark) of Saucier and Jennifer Jane Burnette (John) of Middleton, Tenn.; one son, Jeffery John Myrick of Washington D.C.; two sisters, Vickie Myrick of Saucier and Pat Batte of Forrest; three grandchildren, Joshua Burnette, Jarred Burnette and Christopher Myrick; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.J. Myrick Sr. and Irene Parker Myrick; and two brothers, Pete Myrick and Billy Myrick.
Pallbearers will be Chris Bradford, Ben Collins, Dewayne Greene, Harry Peterson, Bill Spratlin and Joe Spratlin. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
