CLEVELAND – John Edward Peacock, 42, died on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, in Jackson. He was born on July 14, 1971, to James Sr. and Shirley McCollum Peacock in Shelby.
He was a 1989 Cleveland High School graduate. He also attended Mississippi Delta Community College and Delta State University. He was a self-employed handyman/carpenter. He enjoyed playing pool, boxing and photography. He was a former ping pong champion at Mississippi Delta and a former Golden Glove boxer. His life revolved around his son, Punchy, who was his world.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Rocky McCollum will officiate. Burial will follow in North Cleveland Cemetery.
He is survived by his father, James Thomas (Wilma) Peacock Sr. of Cleveland; his mother, Shirley M. Turner of Boyle; his son, Tyler Peacock of Jackson; brothers, James Thomas (Suzane) Peacock Jr. of Cleveland and Kevin Turner of Boyle; sisters, Sharon P. (Paul) Youngblood of Tupelo, Shannon “Shea” Belk of Indianola, Elizabeth “Elise”” (Joey) Mallette of Cleveland, Lisa Ray of Merigold, Robin (Kenny) Beevers of Southaven and JoAnn (Jackie) Moody of Cleveland; his grandmother, Ruth Cates of Gore Springs; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Beck, Shane Kemp, Chris Harris, Jason Harris, Chase Peacock and John Paul Soliz. Honorary pallbearers are Duff Woodard, Butch Boyette, Scooter Boyette and Pat Stevens.
