WEST POINT – Floyd Theron “Turkey” Vaughn Sr., 82, passed away on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at the State Veterans Home in Kosciusko. He was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Prairie to Thelma Jane Thornton Vaughn and James Other “Shorty” Vaughn.
He was a retired U.S. Air Force technical sergeant for 22 years. He first served during the Korean War before serving four more tours of duty. He then worked for Ingalls Shipyard and then as an electrician in Louisiana before becoming a trucker. He married Valarie Barbolish Vaughn on Nov. 1, 1980, in Ocean Springs.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Interment will be at a later time in Greenwood Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie C. Vaughn of West Point; one son, Floyd Theron Vaughn Jr. of Washington, Miss.; two grandsons, Matthew and Michael Vaughn; one sister, Connie V. Gammill (Lynn) of Cedar Bluff; and his brother-in-law, Bill Vest of West Point
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucille V. Vest.
