CALHOUN CITY – Laquita Joy Barton Stewart, 78, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at her home. She was born Feb, 20, 1935, in Calhoun City to Joseph Grady Barton and Rena Maye Harrelson Barton.
She was retired from child care at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Myra (Al) Darby of Batesville, Margery (Eddie) Woodley of Owens Crossroads, Ala., and Mona (Steve) Bowman of Madison, Ala.; one sister, Ann Morgan of Vardaman; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Stewart; and her parents.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City. The Rev. Billy Baker and the Rev. Dwight Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Springs Cemetery in Derma.
Pallbearers will be Tony Morgan, Joe Edmondson, Lee Nabors, Ben Collins, Jordan Collins and Tommy L. Reedy. Honorary pallbearers will be T.J. Morgan, Cody Edmondson, Trent Edmondson, Brennan Pugh, Grady Nabors, Harley Morgan Nabors, Greer Nabors and Tucker Nabors.
