American_OBIT_flag_2a_310ZGERMANTOWN, Tenn. – George Burkett Hitt, 70, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oxford. He was born Dec. 21, 1942, in Calhoun County, the son of Rich Goar Hitt and Ollie Herring Hitt. He was a self-employed bail bondsman, a member of Grace Baptist Church, president of Tennessee Association of Professional Bail Agents and a Vietnam Army veteran.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City with the Rev. Jimmy Vance officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Calhoun City. Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Renee (Will) Rainey of West Memphis, Ark.; two sons, Austin Hitt of Germantown, Tenn., and Jason (Betsy) Hitt of Oakland, Tenn.; two sisters, Lovica Lewurs of Memphis Tenn., and Nell Williams of Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother, Robert (Vicky) Hitt of Calhoun City; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Ruth Beasley.
Pallbearers are Jerry Fox, Robert Ira Davis, G.W. Hitt, Mike Hitt, Charles Diamond, Bob Hitt, John B. Hitt and Henry Hitt.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 1p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Calhoun City,
