The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close Highway 41 at the intersection of Kansas City Southern railroad crossing at 7 a.m. Tuesday to repair the crossing.
This is a temporary road closing to allow KCS to improve the crossing. Work crews hope to complete the work in about eight hours.
Detour signs will be erected for commuters to follow. Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible.
The closing will specifically affect that section of Highway 41 between South Fleming Street and South Child Street.
Highway 41 is a major thoroughfare in Okolona and both city, state and rail officials urge drivers to exercise caution if they are driving in the area Tuesday.
