Bro. W.R. Harrelson

PITTSBORO – Bro. William R. “”W.R.”” Harrelson, 79, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at his home. He was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Calhoun County. Known also as “”Dub,”” he retired from Central Bell after more than 19 years. He was in the ministry for more than 40 years and pastored Singleton Baptist Church in Louisville, Sharon Baptist Church and Savannah Baptist Church in Savannah, Tenn., Pheba Baptist Church in Pheba and Mt. Comfort Baptist Church in Bruce for more than 25 years. He enjoyed woodworking.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Mt. Comfort Baptist Church in Bruce. Bro. Jimmy Wallace will officiate, and Bro. J.R. Eaton will assist. Burial will be in Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Bruce. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Hamilton Harrelson of Pittsboro; two daughters, Laurie Hedrick (Joe) of Union and Teresa Harrelson of Pittsboro; three sons, William Jeff Harrelson (Gail) of Winchester, Tenn., Tim Harrelson of Pittsboro and Mark Harrelson (Karen) of Vardaman; one sister, Lounez Vaughn of Grenada; 16 grandchildren, Shawn Stafford, Miranda Harlow (Bradley), Nathan Harrelson (Amy), Chase Harrelson, Jamie Bowman, Tim Harrelson Jr., Amber Harrelson, Autumn Samuell (Jacob), Jeff Harrelson, Will Harrelson, Ashley Hawkins (Tim), Dallas Hedrick, Brandy Lauing (Dan), Brittany Gann, Corina Cannon (Brady) Nicole Evans; and 21 great-grandchildren, Madilyn Stafford, Tyler Stafford, Tyler Stafford, Jason Bowman, Nick Bowman, Seth Goss, Tyler Harlow, Kaitlyn Harlow, Peyton Harlow, Greysen Prestage, Jedsyn Samuell, Chauncey Harrelson, Kaylin Hawkins, Cordell Hawkins, Jordan Hedrick, Preston Hedrick, Zoey Hedrick, Hollie Hedrick, Mayah Lauing, Ally Grace Gann, Isabella Gann and Emiree Gann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollie Dean Harrelson and Lorena Caulder Harrelson; and a grandson, D.J. Hedrick.
Pallbearers will be Randy Baker, David Braddock, Danny Harrelson, Randy Mann, Terry Massey and Tim Sutherland. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Comfort Baptist Church.
