Lady Wolverines at State

The East Webster Lady Wolverines made their first slow-pitch trip to the State Championship game, but fell to the Lady Bearcats of Baldwyn.
But second place in the state is not a bad place to be and coach Lee Berryhill had only positive things to say about the team’s drive and determination that took them to Ridgeland Saturday.
“The girls worked hard all year and did a great job,” Berryhill said. “I’m proud of them.”
The Lady Wolves battled the Lady Bearcats in Game One, coming from bheind to take a 4-2 lead in the top of the third, but the Baldwyn girls matched them and added in the bottom of the fifth and sixth.
Multiple hits were recorded by Paige Flemings (4), Bailie Springfield and Madison Flemings whilePaige and Madison Flemings both had doubles.
In the second game, Baldwyn took a 6-0 lead through the third and East Webster plated only one run in the bottom of the fourth, falling 6-1.
Springfield recorded multiple hits in the second game and Kendall Wilkinson was on the mound for both.
“Saturday just wasn’t our day,” Berryhill said, adding that the team will be back in practice for fast-pitch following the Christmas break.
“We’ll go back to work and try to get better,” Berryhill said.

Paving the way
The Lady Wolverines puched their ticket to State with a win over a known foe, the Enterprise Lady Yellowjackets.
The East Webster and Enterprise teams have met on the diamond in playoffs many times and have traded championships in fast pitch several times. But this year in slow pitch, the Lady Jackets went home and the Lady Wolverines went to Ridgeland.
The Lady Wolverines went three games to get their semi-final win, 8-6, 2-3, 6-5, with Kendall Wilkinson on the mound for every game. Autumn Frost and Mamie Hollenhead helped the team along with a home run in the first game and Frost, Hollenhead and Jennah Pate all recorded homers in the third game.
The Lady Wolverines took a 24-6 overall record to Ridgeland with them Oct. 26 and closed their season at 24-8.web ew soft
