HOULKA – Robert Lamar Moore, 61, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. He was a native of Chickasaw County.
He was a member of Bethlehem M.B. Church in Houston, where he was chairman of the deacon board and a Sunday school teacher. He was an employee of Franklin Manufacturing in Houston. He loved gardening, cutting wood, his livestock and fishing.
A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Mays Chapel M.B. Church in Pittsboro. The Rev. Leo Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Cane Creek Cemetery in Vardaman. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Moore of Houlka; four sons, Rev. Lee (Demeka) Moore, Kevin Moore, Arktavius Moore and Jeremy Moore, all of Houlka; his mother, Willie B. Moore of Houlka; one sister, Earnestine (Henry) Buggs of Houlka; three brothers, Walter (Vattie) Moore, David (Shell) Moore and Bobby (Linda) Moore, all of Houlka; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvert Lee Moore; two sisters, Willie Rene Moore and Emma Williams; and a brother, Jerry Moore.
Viewing will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
