WEST POINT – Arlis O’Brian, 78, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at West Point Community Living Center in West Point. He was born Nov. 18, 1934, in Maben to Dovie Hamilton O’Brian and Horace O’Brian.
He worked with Pryor Construction for 17 years, and prior to that, he worked in the oil fields. He attended West End Baptist Church but was a member at Cedar Bluff Baptist Church. He married Cheryl Mays O’Brian on June 11, 2008, in West Point; his wife, Sue D. O’Brian preceded him in death on July 19, 1992.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Todd Chesser officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Bluff. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Mays O’Brian of West Point; two daughters, Trudy Roach and Mindi Dempsey; three sons, Boyd O’Brian, Kevin Dempsey and Johnnie Cornwell Jr., all of West Point; one grandson, John Thomas Roach Jr.; two sisters, Betty Tribble and Maxine Jennings, both of Cedar Bluff and Jean Bowman of Starkville; two brothers, Dennis O’Brian (Eva) of Biloxi and Kenneth O’Brian (Pat) of Cedar Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn White.
Pallbearers will be Mike Tribble, Ricky Tribble, David Tribble, Scott O’Brian, Clay O’Brian and Kenny O’Brian.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
