She worked in a glove factory and in later years volunteered as a Pink Lady at Trace Regional Hospital, earning a “2000 Hours of Service” pin. She lived in Houston for a number of years before moving to Pontotoc.
She was a Nazarene.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at Southern Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Scott Samuell will officiate.
Survivors include one daughter, Julia Ann Griffin of Pontotoc; one grand-daughter Samantha Ray of Pontotoc; two grandsons, Robert Voyles of Ecru and Jeffery Seele of Roanoak, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Celina Ray, Summer Ray and Sharon Ray, Lauren Voyles and Hunter Voyles; five brothers, R.C. Wheeler of Houston, Bobby Wheeler of Baldwin, J.D. Wheeler of May, Texas, Jimmy Dale Wheeler, of Texas; four sisters, Ruby Lowe of Nashville, Tenn., Martha Faye Robertson of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Peggy Cole of Sherman and Brenda Phillips of Elberta, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Randle Wheeler and Robert Wayne Wheeler; and one sister, Alvis Ray.
Visitation will be at Southern Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday.
