Eltis Murphree

American_OBIT_flag_2a_310ZHOULKA – Eltis Murphree, 76, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at V.A. Medical Center in Memphis. He was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Calhoun County. He was a retired farmer. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until 1962.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 1, at Rocky Mt. Cemetery at Pittsboro. Bro. Robert Earl Alexander will officiate. Burial will follow. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by three brothers, Morris (Jean) Murphree of Olive Branch, J.D. (Martha) Murphree of Houlka and Gayron (Patsy) Murphree of Pope.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Wilson Murphree and Ludie Porter Murphree; two brothers, Prentiss Murphree and Dennis Murphree; and one sister, Bernice Murphree.

Pallbearers will be W.R. Hensley, Danny Murphree, Jesse Murphree, Terry Murphree, Glenn Parker and Jim Taylor.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
