Lady Toppers rack up two division wins

Battling through a tough non-divison schedule seemed to help the Lady Hilltoppers last week as they broke division play tucking two wins under their belts.
The Lady Toppers soared past Shannon Sept. 17 with a 19-3 win hleped along by multiple hits by Talaja Echoles (3), Taylor Lancaster (3), Mary Kansas Sullivan, Alexis McShan and Tristen Graves. Quaneisha Pratt doubled and McShan added a homer to the effort.
In their Sept. 18 game against New Albany, Madeline Burdine evened her record on the mound to 3-3 as Pratt, Echoles, McShan, Lancaster and Sullivan all repeated multiple hits. Scarlett Doss, Lancaster, Sullivan, Pratt and McShan had doubles and Echoles got the homer in the game for a 15-5 win in five innings.
“We played well in the division games,” said coach Jeffery Mann. “We are starting to hit the ball better. We’ve got through some injuries and hope to finish strong in division play and carry that over into the playoffs.”
The Lady Toppers added another non-division win, against Vardaman, in Thursday’s game and are scheduled to go up against Nettleton and South Pontotoc this week.
They will be back in division play Sept. 30 hosting New Albany for a rematch.web soft hst
