Joe Swords

RANDOLPH – Sherman Lee “Joe” Swords, 71, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at home. He was a factory worker, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Wayne Cobb and Bro. Joey Swords officiating. Burial will be in County Line Cemetery in Randolph. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Clara Nell Swords; three sons, Joey (Tammy) Swords of Pontotoc, Tim (Lesa) Swords of Bruce and Scottie (Carla) Swords of Water Valley; one daughter, Tammy (Jessie) Wiggins of New Albany; six grandsons, Matt Swords, Dutt Swords, Jonathan Swords, Jamie Hollings, Jerry Killough and Archie Swords; one granddaughter, Emily Swords; one great-granddaughter, Carsen Swords; one great-grandson, Logan Swords; three brothers, Kenneth Swords, Charlie Swords and Dean Merritt; and one sister,  Margerta Mayo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie “L.N.” Guinea Swords and Lettie Bell Swords; two brothers, James Herbert “Hub” Swords and Jack Merritt; and one great-grandson, Hayden Swords.

Pallbearers are Matt Swords, Dutt Swords, Jonathan Swords, Archie Swords, Jamie Hollings and Jerry Killough.

Honorary pallbearers are Emily Swords, Carsen Swords and Logan Swords.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
