HOUSTON – James Wilson Smith, 78, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born July 17, 1935, in Van Vleet to Woodrow Wilson Smith and Ola Pauline Duke Smith.
He was a retired carpenter and a regular patron of Moore’s Restaurant in Houston.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston with Bro. Randy Rinehart officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery.
He is survived by three daughters, Connie Rucker (Charler) of Houston, Linda Sue Baynham (Mike) of Houston and Patricia Ann Turman (Kevin) of Mantee; one son James Shelton Smith of Mantee; two brothers, Donald Carol Smith of Houston and Toma Jack Smith of Money; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles Henry Smith, Edward Eugene Smith and Woodrow Allen Smith; and one son, James Lewis Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made toward his funeral expenses.
