Vicki Homan knew her Lady Wildcats were young at the start of the season, but has confidence they will grow into their potential for division play which began this week.
The Lady Wildcats fell to North Pontotoc 2-11 Aug. 26 and the “little things” did them in.
“We made errors again that hurt us,” Homan said.
The Houlka girls rallied Aug. 27 against Coffeeville with a big 17-2 win.
“We played better but still are not doing the small things that have to be done,” Homan said. “We are working at it everyday in practice.
The Lady wildcats broke division Tuesday in Hamilton and will host Houston in non-division Thursday before heading to New Albany for the Robertson’s Sportswear tournament this weekend.
Homan is hoping the team’s efforts in practice and the early season will pay off down the stretch.
“It will have to start paying off,” Homan said.
