CALHOUN CITY – Viola Collins Beckett, 87, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City. She was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Bruce.
She was a homemaker, and a honorary member and past president of the 20th Century Club. She was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church and a member of the Young at Heart group.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Daniel Hathorne officiating. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery. Parker Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Beckett Oakley (Robert Edward) of Bruce; two sons, Jerry Beckett (Sherry) and Jim Beckett (Susan) of Bruce; one sister, Cuvis Cooner of Bruce; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Beckett Sims of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren, Phil Beckett of Oxford, Brandon Beckett of Knoxville, Tenn., Robby Beckett of Dallas, Texas, Ryan Beckett of Jackson, Robert Oakley of Huntsville, Ala., Suzanne Oakley of Bruce, Ashley Soliz of Cleveland, Claire Clark of Bruce and Rebecca King of Oxford; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Collins and Willie Bollinger Collins; her husband, Wilbern Beckett; one son, Rodney Beckett; and one brother, J.W. Collins.
Pallbearers are Caden Austin, Brandon Beckett, Phil Beckett, Robby Beckett, Ryan Beckett, Kyle Clark, Chad King and Robert Oakley
