HOULKA – William Thomas McManus, 72, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Darlington Oaks Hospice in Verona. He was born Feb. 25, 1941, to John Calvin McManus and Ina Malone McManus in Bradley.
He was the owner of Magnolia Transportation, Inc. of Houston and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at Southern Funeral Chapel with Bro. Todd Shield officiating and Bro. Billy Martin assisting. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Southern Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara McCormick McManus of Houlka; a son, Scott McManus of Houston; a daughter, Anita McCormic Brown of Mooreville; five brothers, Johnny (Geneva) McManus of Columbus, Mickey McManus and James McManus, both of West Point, Dale (Pat) McManus of Picayune, and Robert Morgan of Liberty; a brother-in-law, Clovis (Lucy) Pruitt of West Point; grandchildren, Justin McManus, Barbie Gill, Dean McGee and Jennifer Baker; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Calvin and Ina McManus; one son, William Anthony “Tony” McManus; a sister, Francis Pruitt; and a brother, Jerry Lynn McManus.
Pallbearers will be his employees, Tony Pratt, Shane Harrell, Floyd Gann, Keith Parham, Danny Lawson and Tim McCullough.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
