VARDAMAN – Estelle Bryant Griffin, 97, of Vardaman, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at her residence. She was born Nov. 29, 1915, in the Old Town Community of Calhoun County. She was a retired inventory clerk with Hawkins Auto Parts. She was a member of Vardaman First Baptist Church.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at Vardaman First Baptist Church with Bro. Archie Goodwin Officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Calhoun City. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Marshall Gore (Billy Mac) of Vardaman and Colleen Griffin Douglas (Doyle) of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one son, Harold Bryant Griffin (Carrie) of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; four grandchildren, Parris Ray Griffin (Karen) of DeQuincy, La., Susan Marshall Willis (Chad) of Mooreville, Leslie Griffin Patterson (Josh) of Chattanooga, Tenn. and LaNora Souter Phelps (Kevin) of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Luther “Babe” Bryant and Della Armstrong Bryant; her sisters, Lee Veers, Myrtice Bollinger, Gladys Luttrell and Margaret Parker; her brothers, Bill and Jim A. Bryant; and a grandchild, Sarah Griffin.
Pallbearers will be Mike Griffin, Parrish Griffin, Jeff Hamilton, Jerry Hamilton, Earl McGreger, Ronnie Parker, Josh Patterson, Kevin Phelps, Pete Scarbrough, Chad Willis and Ian Willis.
Honorary pallbearers are Danny Bailey, Calvin Barnett, Hubert Gann, Jim Fred Hamilton and Billy Paul Spencer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
