Smith faces Trace accident charge

HOUSTON – Dana R. Whitt-Smith of Houston faces a federal indictment accusing her of DUI on the Natchez Trace Parkway and maiming another woman.

If convicted, she faces up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Smith, 34, was indicted Aug. 21 by a federal grand jury in Oxford.

The accident apparently occurred in Chickasaw County near Trace Mile Post 244.

She is accused of impairment and negligence in causing severe injury to the left leg of Kathy Harvey.

Free on $5,000 unsecured bond, Smith is set for trial Nov. 15 before District Judge Sharion Aycock in Aberdeen.
