Man convicted in Calhoun County stabbing

PITTSBORO, Miss. (AP) — A jury in Calhoun County has found a man guilty of murder for stabbing another man to death with a screwdriver.

WTVA reports the verdict was returned in Calhoun County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon against 30-year-old Andy Nichols Brown.

Brown was arrested in April 2012 and charged in the death of 68-year-old Earlie Balford.

Balford was stabbed to death inside his home in Pittsboro.

Brown was immediately sentenced to life in prison.
