The Houston City League is offering Fall Ball for children and youth ages 4-up.
Park and Recreation Director, John Gravat, is extending registration through this Saturday for those interested in playing the month of September.
The Fall Ball organization is more relaxed than the traditional spring baseball and softball season with a $20 registration fee.
The idea is to give local children and youth an outlet for recreation during the early fall season.
Children and youth will be divided into age groups with 3 to 5-year-olds playing together.
In age divison of 6-8, 9-1 and 11-12, boys and girls will play on separate teams.
Games will begin Sept. 3 and will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays.
“We won’t have any games on Friday because of (high school) football and no Saturday games,” Gravat said.
He added that about 50 children and youth have signed up to play and he is working on filling out the age groups for teams.
The fall season is expected to run through the end of September and possibly into the first week of October depending on player’s and parent’s input.
Those interested may sign up Monday through Friday at City Hall and the deadline is Saturday, Aug. 10. Gravat will be at City Hall Saturday for registration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
