BRUCE – Billy Fred Murphree, 78, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Bruce. He was a self-employed farmer, and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and the Chicken Bone Fire Dept.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. Bro. Joey Hamilton, Bro. Steve Murphree and Bro. Wayne Cobb will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery at Bruce.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Long Murphree of Bruce; three sons, Lynn (Connie) Murphree, Joey Murphree and Kimmy (JJ) Murphree, all of Bruce; three grandchildren, Jon Murphree, Luke Murphree and Kadon Murphree; two great-grandchildren, Jon Hodge Murphree and Kalynn Murphree.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvis Dee Murphree and Carnell Alexander Murphree.
Pallbearers will be Charles Chrestman, Jack Kimbrell, Wade Kimbrell, J.B. Rogers, Shawn Snellings, Earl Swanson, J.T. Turner Jr. and Dwayne Young. Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School class, Mike Brown, Fred Hawkins and the Chicken Bone Fire Dept.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 at the funeral home.
