WEDDING: Staggs/Gore

Mr. and Mrs. James Gore.

Mr. and Mrs. James Gore.

Stephanie Paige Staggs and James Hunter Gore were married at 4 p.m. on Sept. 8, 2012 at Van Vleet United Methodist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Bruce and Linda Staggs of Van Vleet. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lancaster of Van Vleet and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Staggs of Mt. Pleasant.
The groom is the son of Kent and Cindy Gore of Houston. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Moore of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Muse and Dr. and Mrs. Edward Gore of Tupelo.
Bird cages filled with lavender, pink and white roses lined the entry to the church. The beautiful stained glass window was accentuated with ferns and two large arrangements of flowers. Fresh garland covered the banister. Pictures from the couple’s seven-year courtship lined the pews with burlap on lace and pink ribbon.
Nuptial music was provided by Melissa Moore on the piano and Laura Claire Moore on the violin.
Given in marriage by her parents, and escorted by her father, the bride wore a Maggie Sottero gown of diamond-white Vincenzia organza with a strapless neckline and corset back. The raw-edged, structured folds peeked out from an asymmetrically draped skirt highlighted with a grand bouquet of handmade flowers strewn from Swarovski crystals. Her finger-tip veil, restyled by Kay’s Kreations, was worn by her mother 31 years earlier at the same church. Her bouquet, wrapped in a handkerchief, a gift from her maternal grandmother, consisted of pink garden roses with white hydrangeas.
The wedding ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Rusty Keen of Winona. The ceremony included communion, lighting of the unity candle and the exhchange of vows and rings. The Rev. John Foster assisted with the congregational communion. The communion urn and flowers in the sanctuary were placed in memory of the bride’s aunt, Rhonda Kay Lancaster.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was Kelsey Laprade of Pontotoc. Bridesmaids were Ashley Price, sister-in-law of the bride, from Memphis, and Randi Nash, college classmate, from Olive Branch. Bridesmaids wore light pink floor-length chiffon gowns choosing their own personal style. Their bouquets were smaller versions of the bride’s wrapped in monogrammed handkerchiefs, a gift from the bride. Adalie Kate, friend of the couple, served as flower girl.
The best man to the groom was his father, Kent Gore. Groomsmen were Tyler Staggs, brother of the bride, and Mark McNeese of Pontotoc and Tyler Davis of Houston, friends of the groom. Cousins of the bride, Nicholas Butler, was ring bearer and Stephen Butler served as acolyte. The groom and groomsmen wore black Ralph Lauren suites with champagne ties. Boutonnieres of white garden roses were worn.
Immediately following the ceremony, the bride’s family entertained wedding guests with a reception at The Hancock House in Okolona. Flowers in theme with the wedding were prepared by Harolyn Turner from Turner’s Flowers in Okolona. Small Gatherings Catering from New Albany provided ample food for the guests to enjoy.
The bride’s three-tiered wedding cake was monogrammed in ivory and highlighted with fresh white and pink garden roses.
The groom’s table showcased a monogrammed red table-runner with a blue tablecloth. His cake was shaped as an Atlanta Braves jersey. The table was adorned with pictures from the groom’s T-ball days and Atlanta Braves baseball games.
The cakes were deliciously prepared by Cakes By Rita from Amory.
Essentials for the wedding and reception were provided by Event Rental of Pontotoc.
Wedding photography, to capture lasting memories of a lifetime of the wedding and reception, were photographed by Bridget Sharp Photography from Houston.
The groom’s family, on the eve of the wedding, hosted an elaborate rehearsal dinner at My Friend’s Place in Houston. Tables were decorated in the pink and ivory theme. A slideshow, showcasing the bride and groom’s childhood and courtship, was shown for the guests.
