BRUCE – Tom Bruce Longest Sr., 75, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at his home. He was born Feb. 6, 1938, in Bruce. He was a retired equipment supervisor. He was a graduate of BHS Class of 1956. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bruce and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Vicksburg 95.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. Dr. Daniel Hathorne officiated. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Bryant Longest of Bruce; three sons, Dr. Bruce Longest (Lori) of Bruce, Paul Longest (Lisa) of Braxton and Harvey Longest of Nashville, Tenn.; four brothers, Dr. William Longest of Oxford, David Longest of Bruce, Buddy Longest of Bruce and John Longest of Plant City, Fla.; two stepgrandchildren, Bryant Longest and Chad Longest, both of Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William joseph “Jo” Longest and Bertha Mae Crawford Longest, two sisters, Ruth Bowen and Joan Brasher.
Pallbearers will be Ken Akins, Tim Bowen, Tony Bowen, Jacob Brasher, Chuck Herring, Gwin Longest, Scott Longest and Art Spratlin.
Visitation will be from nooon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
