ICC scholarship recipients announced

FULTON/TUPELO – Scholarship recipients at Itawamba Community College for 2013 include Alexandra Belk of Houston, Academic, Leadership; Jacob Bridgman of Houston, Activity/Incentive, Leadership, Solar Car; Marquintez Gates of Houston, Leadership; Chelsea Anne Gray of Houston, Leadership; Alex Harmon of Houston, Academic, Special Achievement, Leadership; Jesse H. Kelly of Houlka, ACT Achievement Incentive, Leadership; Taylor Blake Kelly of Houlka, ACT Achievement Incentive, Leadership; Taliyah Michelle Knox of Houlka, Academic, Leadership; Kenrick O’Neal Maxwell of Houston, ACT Achievement Incentive, Leadership; Cory McDaniel of Houston, Leadership; Shanetric Townsend of Houlka, Academic; and Lindsey Tunnell of Houston, Academic.
Belk is a 2013 graduate of Houston High School where her activities included band, color guard, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Anchor Club and Beta Club. She was on the honor roll for all four years. Belk is a member of Parkway Baptist Church where she serves as vacation Bible school teacher and nursery worker. She is the daughter of John Belk.
At Houston High School where he was a 2013 graduate, Bridgman was a member of Future Farmers of America and the solar car team. He is the son of Bryan and Nataska Bridgman.
Gates is a 2013 graduate of Houston High School where he was a member of the football team. His honors included Most Outstanding Defensive Lineman, Offensive Player of the Game, characteristics, first team offense, Offensive Line, Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman and Blood and Grits award. Gates is an active member of Kyles Chapel in Vardaman. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie and Deborah Gates.
At Houston High School where she was a 2013 graduate, Gray participated in marching and concert bands, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Farmers of America, Diamond Girls, Chess and Checkers Club and North Mississippi Medical Center Summer Health Academy I and II. She also served as an office worker. Gray’s honors included first place individual in Houston High School Reading Fair, FFA Greenhand Degree, first place in Chickasaw County Soil and Water Conservation essay, second place in poster contest and North Mississippi Medical Center Shadowing program (two years). Her other activities are Parkway Baptist Church youth group, volunteer nursery worker and Bible school worker; Salvation Army bell ringer and community volunteer. She is the daughter of William and Jennifer Gray.
Harmon is a 2013 graduate of Houston High School where he participated in football, Chess and Checkers Club and Health Occupations Students of America. His honors included the principal’s list. Harmon also is a member of the Parkway Baptist Church youth group. He is the son of Robyn and Adam Harmon.
At Houlka Attendance Center where he was a 2013 graduate, Jesse Kelly was a member of the basketball team and Beta Club. His honors included superintendent’s honor roll, Leadership award, Citizenship award and basketball team MVP. Jesse Kelly is an active member of the Houlka First Baptist Church youth group. He is the son of Angie Halford.
Taylor Blake Kelly is a 2013 graduate of Houlka High School where he was a member of the Beta Club and class representative. His honors were Leadership award, Citizenship award, superintendent’s honor roll, Most Scholarly, Most Likely to Succeed and multiple subject area awards. Taylor Blake Kelly’s other activities include attending church. He is the son of Angie Halford.
At Houlka High School where she was a 2013 graduate, Knox was a member of the Beta Club, Science Club and Anchor Club (secretary) Her honors included senior class president, Homecoming queen, highest academic award, Leadership award and principal’s honor roll. Knox sings in the choir of West Grove M.B. church, where she is a member of the Victorious drama team. She is the daughter of Crystal Knox.
Maxwell is a 2013 graduate of Houston High School, where he participated in football, power lifting, track and field and drama. His other activities include church choir, usher, drill team and church artist. He is the son of Vida Contrell Smith.
At Houston High School where he was a 2013 graduate, McDaniel participated in Hunting Club, football, Future Farmers of America, Envirothon, forestry, agricultural mechanics and food science and technology. His honors included first place in the state for food science and technology and bronze award at national competition for food science and technology. He is the grandson of Andy and Betty McDaniel.
Townsend is a 2013 graduate of South Pontotoc High School where she participated in band, color guard, winter guard, dance and Beta Club. Her honors included the highest average in calculus and a two-year SCGC champion. She is the daughter of Herbert and Marsha Townsend.
At Houston High School where she was a 2013 graduate, Tunnell was a member of the Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Health Occupations Students of America and the Spirit Club. Her honors included National Society of High School Scholars award (academic achievement and excellence). She is the daughter of Terry and Angie Tunnell.
