HOUSTON – David “Pie” Eldred Peel Sr., 78, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born March 6, 1935, in Chickasaw County to Ben Jourdan Peel and Wilma Roberta Beasley Peel. He was a army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired truck driver and plant manager. He was a Godly christian husband, father, and grandfather, who loved the Lord.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Daniel Heeringa officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Houston. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by one son, David Peel Jr. (Marie); two daughters, Mary Margaret Smith (Jimmy) and Peggy Shempert (Scott), all of Houston; four grandaughters, Jannie Peel, Deanna Reynolds, Terri Curry, and Lakyn Shempert; eight grandsons, Kyle Peel, Chaise Porter, Jourdan Peel Smith, Cody Brooks, Skeeter Peel, Gage Huffman, Jacob Shempert, and Stevie Peel; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Peggy Johnson of Concord, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Marie McGraw of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Jourdan Peel and Wilma Roberta Beasley Peel; his wife, Margaret Ann Peel; three brothers, Jimmy Peel, Billy Peel, Ben Peel Jr.; one sister, Eleanor Castle; and one grandson, Luke Smith.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Peel, Chaise Porter, Skeeter Peel, Cody Brooks, Stevie Peel, Jourdan Smith and Jacob Shempert.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Moore, Ricky Rowe, Jim Crowley, and all his coffee shop buddies.
