OKOLONA – Johnny “Godfather” Powe, 56, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Nov. 21, 1956, to Robert Lee Powe Sr. and Alice Garth. He was a graduate of Okolona High School and a member of Red Bud Church. He loved deejaying.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Red Bud M.B. Church with the Rev. Jamal Bodie officiating. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Kayla Chandler and Keyona Chandler of Okolona; one son, Danny Powe; his companion, Jerdean Chandler; eight sisters, Nadine Coleman, Lois Heron (Mike), Mary (Bryan) Smith and Ineace Oliphant, all of California, Dorothy Buchanan (James), Cathy Miller (Bobby), Annie McShan, all of Okolona, Sandra Perkins (Andre) of Verona; one brother, Willie Gathings (Linda) of Okolona; 10 grandchildren.
