Lady Rams advance in three games
Vardaman girls pick up suspended game and finish strong.

VARDAMAN – The Lady Rams started of their second round of playoffs strong, with a 7-2 win over Wheeler, but hit a stumbling block in Game Two.
In their first meeting, the Lady Eagles posted the fist run, but the Lady Rams went over them in the bottom of the first and added three more in the third for a 5-1 lead. The Lady Eagles managed another run in the top of the fifth, but the Lady Rams padded their lead by two more in the bottom of the sixth and went on to the 7-2 win.
Grace Edmondson got the win on the mound and helped herself with a triple. Sydney Huffman got a double and Whittney Gee had a triple.
Game Two proved to be a much closer outing as the Lady Rams and Lady Eagles tied at 1-1 in th esecond and the Vardaman girls sent up by one in the third. The Lady Eagels tied it up in the sixth, forcing the extra inning and plated the winning run in the bottom of the eighth for the 3-2 win.
Splitting the series forced a third game and the Lady Ram were leading 2-0 after the first inning when the game was called for rain.
The Lady Rams headed back to Wheeler Monday to resume Game Three and didn’t lose any momentum over the break.
They picked up the game with two runners on and Sydney Huffman turned a two-two count into a two RBI double.
“We just rolled from there,” said Coach Billy Dill. “We hit the ball hard and Grace (Edmondson) pitched a really good game.”
Edmondson helped herself with a double and Briana Wright had three hits with a double in the effort.
The Lady Rams Monday win clinched the series for them and sets them up to play the winner of West Union/Jumpertown who were still battling in their series Tuesday.
The outcome of the game will determine who and where Vardaman will play their next round this Thursday and Saturday.
