HOUSTON – Howard Glen White, 84, died Thursday, April 25, 2013. He was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Clay County to Alvie Ardell White and Artie “Kidie” Elizabeth Vaughn White. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ. He was a rural mail carrier. He was the owner and operator of White’s Dept. Store and he partnered with Shorty Kilgore in establishing Memorial Funeral Home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home in Houston with Bro. J.F. Dancer officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Oswalt White of Houston; one son, Jerry Glen White (Becky) of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Janet Lynn White Smith (Ricky) and Patrisha Louise White Patch, both of Houston; five grandchildren, Chad Smith (Karlee) of Houston, Casey Smith of Houston, Kristen Patch of Ocean Springs, Amber Dendy (Brett) of Houston and Landon Patch; one great-grandson, Trace Dendy; and one sister, Mary Helen Rhea (Herbert) of Carthage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and Artie White.
Pallbearers will be Chad Smith, Casey Smith, Landon Patch, Alan Rhea, Timothy Oswald, Eddie Alford, Jody Alford and Doug Holloway.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home.
