VERONA – Tyrone Thompson Sr., 55, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 24, 1958, in Chickasaw County to William Henry and Joella Thompson. He worked for Homan Honey Farms for many years. He enjoyed fishing and doing handy work. He attended Siggers High and Shannon High School. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Shannon and later faithfully attended New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church in Plantersville until his death.
He is survived by his mother, Joella Thompson of Tupelo; one son, Tyrone (Alilah) Thompson Jr. of Tupelo; fiancée, Kerry Traylor of Verona; grandsons, Tilar Ty’ron Thompson of Atlanta, Ga., Myles Thompson, Darius Thompson, Khaywon McCoy, Brandon McCoy; granddaughters, Nada Thompson, Mikiyla Badie, Brooklen McCoy, Cypres McCoy; one great-grandchild, Malachi McCoy, all of Tupelo; one brother, Jackie Eugene Thompson; sisters, Henry Ella (Larry Sr.) Smith and Brenda (Daniel) Jenkins, all of Tupelo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Thompson; brothers, William Edward Thompson and John Willis Thompson; and one sister, Lillie G. (Thompson) Ward.
A life celebration will be held at noon Saturday at Life Changing Ministries in Tupelo. The Rev. George Pritchard will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery at Johnson Chapel in Shannon. N.L. Jones is in charge of arrangements.
The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service time.
