The Southern Survivors Relay for Life Team, the New Century Breast Cancer Support Group and Sparta Opry will host a Womanless Beauty Revue at 6 p.m. Saturday to raise money for the fight against cancer.
“You may see things you’ve never seen before at ‘The Opry,’” said Jean Dendy, event organizer. “We have several men – I mean contestants – who will participate in this event and you will want to be there to see this.”
Dendy said cameras are welcome, but she reminded the audience that blackmail is a crime.
Contestants will compete in beauty, talent and the person who raises the most money. Crowns will be awarded the winners quickly ushered off the stage.
“Seriously, this is about raising money to find a cure for cancer,” said Dendy, a cancer survivor. “It takes a real man to put on a dress and do this for Relay. I want to point out every penny raised goes to the fight against cancer.”
The Sparta Opry kitchen will be serving fish and chicken plates and a table full of drinks and deserts will be available for sale from 4 until 6 p.m. And, again, all money raised goes to Relay for Life.
“We have several local merchants who have donated several nice prizes,” said Dendy. “We have a lot of people in our community who have cancer and supporting events like this show them we really do care.”
Drawings will be held for prizes including the World Famous Sparta Hams.
“We urge you to come out and enjoy a night of good clean fun and entertainment, while supporting your favorite “Beauty” and helping in the fight against Cancer,” said Dendy. “One of these days we are going to find a cure for cancer and events like this and your donations bring that day closer.”
